School Based Services

Mental & Behavioral Health Services in Your Child’s School
2022-2023 Academic Year

Molly and Me Counseling and Training Center is a child focused agency that helps children between the ages of birth and 18 years of age. Our clinicians are all licensed professionals with the state of Idaho, and are equipped to provide therapy in a safe, positive, and nurturing manner. At Molly and Me counseling and training center we utilize evidenced based approaches that coincide with a child’s natural medium of self-expression–specializing in Play Therapy. Our use of child focused strategies such as play help children better process their experiences as well as develop tools, skills, and strategies that create long lasting therapeutic change.

This year will be our second year in the Kuna School District, where we will have a licensed clinician available to provide these services at Reed Elementary, Silver Trail, Initial Point High School, Hubbard Elementary and Indian Creek Elementary.

The “Why” and “How” of Molly and Me at Your School

Why Bring Molly and Me to School?

A Move Towards Children’s Well-being

Bringing Molly and Me play therapy services to schools is a strategic move with profound implications for children’s well-being and academic success. Consider the statistics: experts estimate that approximately 1 in 5 children grapple with an emotional disorder during childhood or adolescence. Alarmingly, 10% of these children progress to develop severe emotional disturbances (SED), significantly impeding their ability to function in various facets of life – including family, school, and community activities.

The far-reaching consequences of SEDs on a child’s social and academic trajectory, which can reverberate into adulthood. Given that school-aged children spend the majority of their waking hours within the school environment – an average of 35 hours per week – it becomes evident that schools play a pivotal role in shaping a child’s development.

By integrating play therapy services directly into schools, we’re not just addressing symptoms – we’re creating a culture of holistic support and well-being. Through targeted interventions tailored to the school environment, we aim to empower children, enhance their resilience, and cultivate positive developmental outcomes that extend far beyond the classroom.
