How can I schedule a session and will I need a referral in order to be seen?
To begin receiving services at Molly and Me Counseling and Training Center, please reach out to our front office. Your child will be placed on our referral list, after which the Clinical Director will match them with a suitable clinician. This decision will consider your child’s specific needs, scheduling preferences, and the expertise of our therapists. You do not need a referral to start the process.
Do you offer online counseling sessions?
Yes, we provide online counseling sessions to ensure flexibility and convenience for our clients.
What is the duration of each counseling session?
A clinician will tailor a plan specific for your child and your family needs. Sessions typically range from 45 minutes to an hour.
As a parent/caregiver, do I have to attend every appointment?
Will my child be in the room with a therapist without me? What if I don't feel comfortable allowing my child to be alone in the room with the therapist without me?
The well-being of both parent/caregiver and child is of utmost importance, and we would never want either to feel uncomfortable. Therefore, a parent/caregiver may be involved in the sessions as an observer and/or through family sessions. However, it is essential that the child have individual time with the therapist to establish a safe and confidential environment for sharing and processing emotions. The therapeutic plan would include individual sessions with the child, when and only when they are ready, to provide this confidential space. Parental/caregiver involvement continues through family sessions or one on one with the therapist as this is critical to facilitating change.
I have joint legal custody with my child's other parent or another legal guardian. What if I don't want to include them in this process?
Regrettably, we require consent from both legal guardians to provide our services. Based on our experience, initiating treatment (including the development of a therapeutic relationship with a child) with only one party’s consent often results in greater harm to the child when treatment is terminated due to the subsequent refusal of the second party. Our goal is to support and assist all family members, and involvement in custody disputes hinders our ability to effectively fulfill our responsibilities.
Do both parents have to consent if one parent has sole physical custody but still share joint legal custody?
Yes, if either parent has any legal custody then both parents must consent to treatment.
What if I don't have a custody decree but my child's other parent is estranged from them?
In these situations, we can begin treatment; however, if the estranged parent returns and does not consent to treatment, treatment will cease immediately.
Is it possible to coordinate scheduling for multiple children?
Do you provide family therapy sessions and can a different counselor be assigned for these sessions?
Do you do any sort of testing?
Do you offer PCIT or reunification therapy?
