Counseling Services Offered at Molly and Me Counseling
Molly and Me Counseling is a safe place where children and families can come together to work through their troubling times. They will find comfort in a warm and inviting environment coupled with therapeutic interventions that are intended to meet the needs of one’s child and family in a non-threatening manner.
Individual Play Therapy
We offer individual counseling for children using play-based interventions. We have therapists who specialize in working with children ages 2 to 12 years old. Oftentimes, a combination of non-directed (child-driven) and directed (therapist-driven) play based interventions are used. We have experience working with children who come to counseling for a variety of reasons. A few examples include trauma, loss and grief, adoption/foster care issues, sadness, depression, anxiety or worrying, self-esteem, attention problems, behavioral challenges, anger, family conflicts, and adjustment to new situations.
Adolescent and Adult Individual Counseling
We also offer individual therapy for adolescents and adults. We have a specialty working with adolescents and adults who are dealing with issues stemming from their childhood; depression, stress and chronic fatigue; young adult life transitions; family conflict and parenting concerns. Typically, therapy with adolescents and adults falls into what we call “talk therapy.” Talk therapy will be used, however, expressive arts, including art and sand tray therapy, can be incorporated into treatment as a way to help one explore emotions, life narratives and experiences that are beyond the normal conscious awareness. This unique treatment approach is decided by the client and therapist.
Certified AutPlay® Therapy

It integrates therapeutic models of play therapy and behavioral therapy along with relationship development approaches together in a collaborative model to assist children and adolescents in gaining needed skills and abilities. AutPlay Therapy is a combination of behavioral and developmental methodology that is both therapist-led and parent-led.

Family Therapy Available at Molly and Me Counseling
Family Play Therapy
Molly and her team use both directed and non-directed play therapy with children and families. Often when using directed play therapy it is used in a “prescriptive” approach. The theoretical focus combines expressive therapies, particularly play therapy, with behavior modification, skills training and cognitive behavioral techniques. Families with children diagnosed with ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, Attachment and Adjustment Disorders are all welcome. Families who have experienced sexual, verbal or physical abuse, domestic violence, death, loss and grief, divorce, adoption or incarceration of a parent will find a safe environment for healing at Molly and Me Counseling.
Theraplay
Theraplay is a child and family therapy that has as its goal enhancing and building attachment, self-esteem, trust in others, and joyful engagement. The principles underlying Theraplay are that, in healthy relationships, there should be natural patterns of playful as well as healthy interaction between parent and child. This is often a 12 week structured form of therapy completed after 2 to 4 initial observation sessions with child and parent(s).
